Capacitive discharge welder
MIYACHI Unitek has released a capacitive discharge welder with a new design said to improve productivity, weld consistency and reliability.
The Advanced Dual Pulse (ADP) welder features current monitoring, programmable pulse polarity, increased repetition rates, pulse upslope and four selectable pulse width durations.
The unit is controlled through a user interface on a 6.5inch colour display that shows monitored current values, weld limits, weld counters and squeeze and hold times programmed for each weld schedule.
The welder comes rated for 1000Ws, 300Ws or 100Ws. The peak current for pulse one and two can be monitored, with limits set for each with the option of second pulse inhibit. These features allow the unit to indicate potentially bad welds or process drift, and protect against weld blow out.
An upslope function can be programmed on the pulse to gradually increase the weld energy to alleviate weld splash. Users can individually select the polarity of the pulses, or have alternating polarity for successive welds. This can be used to provide a uniform weld nugget size.
