China gets environmentally-friendly pelletiser
OUTOTEC will provide environmentally sound iron ore pelletising technology for Shougang Jingtang United Iron and Steel’s new plant to be built in China.
Under the $48.5m contract, Outotec will deliver the basic and detail engineering, proprietary equipment, instrumentation, control systems, supervisory services as well as technical training.
The pelletising plant to be built in Caofeidan is part of Shougang’s plan to relocate from Beijing to Caofeidan.
The environmentally sound technology will make use of a travelling grate. At its core is a pellet indurating furnace with a grate area of 505 square meters. The plant will be the first plant of its size in China which uses modern travelling grate technology, and is expected to treat 4m tonnes of iron ore per year. Pellet production is estimated to start at the end of 2009.
