Considering electroless nickel plating

ACCORDING to
A Class Metal Finishers, electroless nickel plating is an alternative to hard-chrome plating or fabricating parts from stainless steel.
Electroless nickel plating is applied to parts without an electric current. According to the company, this results in a uniform coating over the entire surface of the item, eliminating the need for remachining the surface.
Nickel plating is also corrosion resistant. The coating has increased hardness to resist wear and self-lubricating properties suited for moving parts and preventing galling.
The finish is said to perform and look similar to stainless steel, while costing less than a stainless-steel produced part. It can be used on parts subject to salt water or chemically corrosive environments, as well as injection moulding tools, dies, shafts, tubes and other components.
