Laser cutting and welding seminars

lasers are flexible, rapid and cost-effective solutions for manufacturing metal componentsTHREE international experts from BOC/Linde and Trumpf will discuss the latest developments in laser materials processing at free seminars in May and June 2008.
Dr Jim Fieret and Dr Wolfgang Danzer from BOC/Linde, and Ryu Tan from Trumpf will talk about new laser cutting and welding processes, with a focus on applications, equipment and market trends in the South Pacific and globally.
According to the seminar organisers, lasers are flexible, rapid and cost-effective solutions for manufacturing metal components. The seminars will provide insight into the characteristics of the various high power lasers, including CO2, fibre, diode, disk and pulse lasers.
Dr Fieret will speak on markets and trends in laser sources, oxygen and nitrogen laser cutting, trends in power, laser cutting assist gases, and gas supply installations for laser.
Dr Danzer will compare laser cutting with oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, and talk about advanced nozzles and gas technology for laser cutting, remote cutting and welding technologies, the benefits of plasma plume, and active laser welding shield gases.
Ryu Tan will talk about high power lasers in automotive applications, low power welding, laser deposit welding and laser cladding for material build up, applications for aerospace, welding thicker metals, and scanner laser welding with robots.
The seminars will take place in three Australian cities.
