MITSUI Seiki has released a line of 4- and 5-axis horizontal machining centres for titanium and nickel alloy airframe and aerospace engine components.According to the company, decades of experience and research and development were involved in engineering the machines, which can handle square pallets ranging from 500mm to 1500mm.The computer numerical control (CNC) machining centres are said to be designed for highest volumetric accuracy and stiffness for machining precision components. They have machine beds of a patent cast metal which are said to provide rigidity and thermal stability.The machines can handle large bending moments at the tool taper interface up to 1960m/kg for roughing and finishing operations.
