Modular expandable honing machine

the basic module is future-proof with removable side enclosure panels which allow flow-through part processing.SUNNEN has released a modular honing machine which can be scaled up, and is capable of sizing and finishing bores to submicron accuracy.
The SV-1000 computer numerical control (CNC) honing machine can be scaled up from a single-spindle machine to a fully automated multi-spindle unit for precise bore sizing and finishing.
The machine handles parts with diameters between 3 and 65mm. They are suited for diesel fuel injectors, gears, small engine cylinders, rods, and hydraulic or pneumatic components.
According to the manufacturer, the basic module is future-proof with removable side enclosure panels which allow flow-through part processing. A cast-polymer base damps vibration. It can be equipped with a fixed tooling plate or servo rotary table for fixture control.
An industrial PC controls the machine, and can be updated via its software.
The SV-1000 can be converted into a fully-automated version by specifying a servo rotary table or linear part transfer, integrated part handling systems, and up to four spindles.
Integrated post-process air gauging options can provide closed-loop control of bore size and geometry. Downloadable feedback control further allows the machine to engage in unmanned cellular processing.
The machine has a servo-controlled stroking drive that responds smoothly to motion profiles generated by the control, and a load-sensing tool feed system senses where and how much to hone the bore.
