Near-dry lubrication applied to sawing

sawing with minimum-quantity-lubrication (MQL) eliminates the need to clean out a sump or dispose of coolantACCORDING to Unist, although near-dry lubrication applications are used extensively in machining centres, the technology can also be applied under the saw blade.
The company claims sawing with minimum-quantity-lubrication (MQL) eliminates the need to clean out a sump or dispose of coolant. In some instances, coolant disposal can cost more than the purchase cost of the substance.
Like near-dry machining, near-dry sawing is said to be economical, with fluid usage rates of 10ml per hour of continuous operation.
According to the company, the technology can be used with a wide range of materials from mild steel to aluminium to copper. It eliminates the flow of chips and coolant down the channel and thus the clean-up effort.
