Aluminium-filled prototyping now available

These components and models have a metallic appearance similar to cast aluminium models.ARRK says it has started supplying Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) prototype components in aluminium-filled nylon material.

These components and models have a metallic appearance similar to cast aluminium models.

The company’s standard prototype models use glass filled and unfilled nylon materials. The aluminium-filled material is said to be visually and tactilely different.

Prototype models are available in sizes up to 340 by 290 by 400mm, and can be reproduced with complex geometries that are impossible to machine.

The company warns its SLS prototypes do not have the same mechanical properties as machined aluminium components. Depending on the applications and requirements needed of the part, a different solution may be suitable.
