End mills for aluminium have large “sweet spot”

The two and three flute tools are suited for roughing and finishing applications, and are said to include the industry’s largest selection of corner radii and neck and flute lengths.ONSRUD Cutter LP has introduced a line of end mills for aluminium materials, said to allow chatter-free machining at high speeds and on heavy cuts.
The two and three flute tools are suited for roughing and finishing applications, and are said to include the industry’s largest selection of corner radii and neck and flute lengths.
According to the company, the tools have a large “sweet spot”, allowing for maximum metal removal rates and productivity.
There are also varieties for machining centres with coolant-through-the-spindle capabilities. These direct the coolant at the cutting edge, dissipating heat, reducing friction and clearing chips for deep cavity work.
The manufacturer says coolant at the cutting edge can contribute to superior finishes, preventing chips from adhering between the flutes. The design can maximise the effect of “minimum quantity lubricant” by ensuring the lubricant reaches the edge.
