Fibre-based deburring tools
TECO Tooling has released a line of deburring tools that use alumina ceramic fibres for precision deburring and surface finishing.
According to the company, the Xebec tools are produced in a facility in Japan, and are an innovative step forward compared to other options such as tumblers, emery clothes, stones and brushes.
Alumina ceramic fibre technology is based on alumina continuous filaments of ten micrometers in diameter, which have an optimal crystal structure suited to grinding.
The filaments have self-sharpening cutting edges, which continually remove burrs when applied to a part with rotation and feed. According to the company, the abrasive brush can conform to tight geometries and does not damage the base metal.
The tools can be integrated into lathes with live tooling, machining centres, robots and drilling machines.
