Large scale laser cutter

LASER Photonics has released a high power fibre laser cutting system with a single pallet shuttle table capable of large scale industrial cutting jobs.
The Titan FLS 48 is said to be suitable for applications such as aircraft skin fabrication, and can cut aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel.
According to the company, conventional laser cutting systems have difficulty cutting aluminium. Aluminium is very reactive and absorbs a large amount of heat. The FLS 48 has high power with a small heat affected zone (HAZ), said to allow cutting of highly reflective metals with greater speed and accuracy.
The company also claims fibre lasers do not cause deformation or burnt edges, and are the modern replacement for CO2 and YAG cutting lasers. It is said fibre laser cutters produce intricate designs with superior edge quality.
The Titan unit uses approximately the same amount of power as three vacuum cleaners and is claimed to be relatively compact when compared to similarly-functioning machines.
The machine has a 2000 to 5000 watt upgradeable fibre laser, a Class I safety enclosure and a direct drive motion control platform. It does not require an optical system alignment, laser service or replacement parts.
