METAL recycler CMA will buy UK company Meretec and its US subsidiary for $18.5m.
According to CMA, the acquisition was mostly driven by the recycling technology held by Meretec.
The technology is said to offer environmentally friendly and innovative metal recycling. Specifically, it removes the zinc before the steel is melted. This releases two clean black scrap and 99% pure zinc powder.
The acquisition will be effective from 31 July 2008.
