Piston workholding jaw holds multiple parts
DoALL Australia is distributing
Kurt’s new workholding system for its 20.32cm vices, capable of holding five or eight parts in a single clamping.
The new system expands the Hydramax line. It can be used to enhance the capabilities of the Kurt vices by replacing standard jaw plates with the enhanced jaws with up to 12 pistons.
According to the manufacturer, independent pistons provide consistent clamping for holding multiple parts, and are suited for irregularly shaped parts, castings and various size parts in one clamping.
Quick pocket machining is also possible with the aluminium jaw. The company claims a common channel equalises pressure against all the individual pistons, so equal pressure is applied to all parts.
Operators can load parts and activate the vice handle to provide independent clamping of each piston. Hydraulic pressure is used for clamping, although there are no hydraulic connections needed.
