Rotary shear cuts straight beams

The Steel Beam Splitter is said to be powerful enough to cut any beam up to one metre wide and 1.4cm web thickness.LL BROWN says it has responded to requests from the structural steel industry and is now selling a rotary shear which can shear a wide flange into two “T” shaped beams.

The Steel Beam Splitter is said to be powerful enough to cut any beam up to one metre wide and 1.4cm web thickness.

According to the manufacturer, the guide rail exit system on the rotary shear leads the beam out of the cutting blade, keeping the beam supported and centred during the exit. This means the beams do not need to be straightened once they are split.

The company claims the machine is much faster than gas cutting. The main control has been designed so it can accommodate a preheat/quenching system, which the user supplies.
