Schotte CAD/CAM software allows detailed mould engraving

computer aided design/computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) package has mould making engraving tools as a feature.SCHOTT Systeme says the new version of their computer aided design/computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) package has mould making engraving tools as a feature.
According to the software developer, its Pictures by PC 3.2 software allow finer engravings to be designed and machined on the moulds. Such details include company logos, recycling symbols and table-based technical data.
An included suite of graphic design and typography tools allow other artwork and text to be included on moulds.
Once the 2D artwork is ready, the software uses predefined machining techniques to rough out the surrounding areas, then re-machine the material with conical engraving tools.
Intricate mould engraving such as small lettering and symbols is enabled by the computer, which provides carving techniques to continually change the depth of the tool over problem areas.
This is said to result in sharp lettering and high levels of detail. The CAM software also allows for automatic calculation of engraving for five-axis simultaneous machining.
