Success for massive metalworking show in China

1,100 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions showcasing metalworking technology and equipment to the metallurgy and foundry industry visitors.HANNOVER Fairs Australia reports they have successfully completed three metal working exhibitions and expos in the rapidly growing Chinese market.
The 11th China International Metallurgical Industry Expo, Metal+Metallurgy 2008 and Casting China 2008 were concurrently held over four days at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
The fair ran from 2 June to 6 June 2008. It covered a total display area of 60,000 square metres, with 1,100 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions showcasing metalworking technology and equipment to the metallurgy and foundry industry visitors.
There were 31,867 overseas visitors to the shows, representing a 10% increase over 2004’s event. This was attributed to China’s transition from being a net importer of crude steel to a net exporter and producer of the metal.
The nation’s steel consumption has quadrupled since 1998 and is set to grow by up to five percent annually for the next few years.
While domestic exhibitions made a strong showing, over 200 international companies were also in attendance, presenting advanced technological solutions and exhibiting the latest trends of the industry.
A number of exhibitors also presented their industrial integration solutions, which are intended to tackle the lack of overall framework in modern large-scale steel mills.
Forums focusing on green manufacturing and environmentally friendly steel production were also held concurrently with the event.
Beijing will be the host of the next show in 2010.
