Two precision waterjet cutters

The 60120 JetMachining Centre is a large format machine for cutting larger or multiple parts from stock up to 1.5m by 3mOMAX has released two new precision abrasive waterjet systems which are said to be faster and more accurate than their predecessors.

The 60120 JetMachining Centre is a large format machine for cutting larger or multiple parts from stock up to 1.5m by 3m. It has a footprint of 5.7m by 2.8m. The company claims the machine is quick and accurate.

The centre features a 272kg abrasive delivery feed system and a traction drive for fast traverse speeds and throughput times when machining multiple and nested parts.

The 60120 uses a bridge style Y-axis which allows the cutting head to move past the catcher tank so materials can be loaded without obstruction. In addition to metals like aluminium, tool steel, stainless steel, mild steel and titanium, the machine can also cut ceramics, composites, plastics, glass and stone.

The 5555 JetMachining Centre has a footprint of 3.3m by 2.4m, and is said to be designed for short-run part production, just-in-time manufacturing, tooling and prototype development. It handles material sizes up to 1.5m by 1.5m.

The machine does not require tool changes or fixturing, and has a setup times said to be half that of similar machines.

Both machine use the company’s motion control technology where software calculates the velocity of a tool path at over 2000 points per inch, allowing control over the motion of the jet and precise rapid machining.

OMAX Machines are distributed in Australia by Abrasive Jet Machining.
