Geometric launches its NestLib 2009 R3 software for sheet metal punching

GEOMETRIC has announced the release of NestLib 2009 R3 software with improved algorithms for material utilization for sheet metal punching.

According to Geometric, NestLib is one of the most successful nesting technologies in the market, focused on optimizing two dimensional packaging. Additionally, NestLib has been licensed by over 90 independent software vendors and original equipment manufacturers worldwide.

NestLib 2009 R3 is said to introduce a new algorithm which allows punch profiles to be nested outside the sheet boundary, to improve material utilization in sheet metal punching operations. The Grid Fit module has been enhanced to enable users to specify preferred nesting direction, when optimizing nested layouts.

The company says a new feature with the NestLib 2009 R3 software allows sharing of punch profiles only with copies of the same part.
