High feed milling to deliver 300% machining speed

SECO Tools says it will start a new campaign for high feed milling on 1 September 2008.

According to the metal working tool manufacturer, high feed milling provides companies with a competitive edge.

The milling method is said to permit up to three times faster machining than conventional methods. The company says this is possible by pairing shallow depth of cut with high feed per tooth, resulting in higher metal removal rates and thus more parts being machined.

The cutting forces are directed at the machine spindle in the axial direction, giving the process greater stability and reduced vibrations, extending tool life.
