KENNAMETAL has released a series of heavy-metal bars engineered for extended-length boring applications.
According to the company, the bars function equally well in finishing and medium-machining ID turning, grooving and threading tasks.
The boring bars are made of a hybrid of heavy metal with brazed steel heads. They are said to be more rigid than steel bars while retaining a less costly price than carbide boring bars.
The hybrid design and brazed joint is said to support the insert better than heavy metal alone. This is said to reduce failure possibilities while in use.
The new bars are available in a variety of sizes, including 8, 10, 12, 16, and 20mm.
