MATE Precision Tooling has released the new Mate LongLife slitting tool system made from M4PM tool steel for Trumpf style punch presses.

According to Maxitec, the OEM-compatible Mate LongLife slitting tool system is possibly the only punch press slitting system which is constructed from M4PM tool steel. Maxitec is the Australian distributor for the Mate LongLife slitting tool system.

This tool steel is said to have superior wear resistance and increased toughness, resulting in higher quality punched parts and longer tool life.

Maxitec says the Mate LongLife slitting tool system is designed to replace conventional punches and dies in the fabricating processes.

M4PM tool steel is a proprietary metallurgical steel composition that utilises a special particle metallurgical manufacturing process and triple temper heat treatment.

The Mate LongLife slitting tool system consists of rectangular and oval punch inserts, punch insert holders, die inserts, and die insert holders.

The Mate LongLife punch insert holders are available in two types. One has an integral alignment ring for fast and precise tool setup, while the other requires a heavy duty alignment ring to allow manual angle setting flexibility.
