Five-axis trunnion machining centre saves time and costs
SNK has released a five-axis trunnion machining centre said to save manufacturing time and costs.
The Nissin MAX i-Series has a large work envelope, and can access five sides of a part, and complete the part in one set-up. The five-axis operation is said to reduce labour and production time, and decrease work-holding and fixturing expenses.
The machine has a non-cantilever style trunnion mounting said to be stable and accurate with enhanced contouring capabilities. The trunnion table supports payload and cutting forces at both ends. Rigid table designs allow for ample swing area for accurate large part machining.
The MAX i-Series has a Fanuc direct drive motor which drives both the rotary and tilting axes. This is said to provide higher rotating speeds, more efficient power transfer and increased repeatability.
