Steelmaking and casting optimisation software

QUINTIQ has released a software solution focused on steelmaking and caster planning and scheduling.
According to the company, its Caster Planning and Optimisation Solution is a fully integrated software intended for steelmaking and casting operations. It has features to address the needs of steel companies, regardless of size or specialisation.
Quintiq claims it can increase productivity at all sorts of metal working facilities, be it an integrated mill or mini-mill, having one caster or four casters, or producing plate, coil or bar.
The software’s architecture is said to capture all the specific rules and constraints of each facility, creating planning and scheduling to suit each workplace.
The solution provider says its software can improve on-time delivery from casting, create longer casting sequences, allow the casting of more optimal material dimensions, and better utilise current inventory.
