The three-day conference will be held on the Gold Coast between 28 June and 1 July 2009.
According to organisers, it will cover the latest information on alloy development, processing, modelling and the applications of aluminium, titanium and magnesium alloys, with special reference to automotive, aerospace, defence and medical applications.
The Call for Papers for the conference has also been extended to 12 September 2008. Papers will be selected for oral or poster presentation. They will be published as full technical papers in a hard bound copy of the conference proceedings, and also offered on CD.
The papers should address one of a number of themes, such as the changing nature of the light metals industry, environmental challenges, processing innovations, near net shape manufacturing, novel forming technologies and surface modifications.
The International Light Metals Technology conference is held every two years by a member of the Global Light Metals Alliance. Previous conferences were in Australia (2003), Austria (2005) and Canada (2007).
